But, I I finished that really early in this summer. And then beyond that, I've just been, doing some outcomes work, some people at the med school.

Yeah. So I think, like, we've definitely become more main stream as a consulting club, but I joined that my freshman year, and I've just been, doing that for a while. And I think because of that and the consulting culture that has honestly taken over Brown, then I ended up recruiting and stuff. I recruited too, but then I realized, like, it really isn't for me. So I turned down some offers and stuff.

Is there a reason why you chose, like, consulting?

I feel like for why I choose consulting, I think, like, part of it is because I kinda feel like I accidentally found myself on that path pretty early on because I just stumbled into joining a consulting club early on and then, like, as my time with, the club grew and, like, my leadership positions grew, I just felt like that was, like, natural steps for me. And I think I think right now, is pretty interwoven with finance. I was also in, like, an investment group that's

So I feel like that's, like, very cool, but I think because I waited too long and I didn't really do too much with law in college, that's not my realm anymore.

But I did really wanna be a doctor. Growing up, and I think I solidified that.

I guess for me, it's a similar story for, like, as you. Like, I think going into college so I applied as, like, a bio major, just pure bio. And then was like, talking to a lot of my friends, And in my high school, there's a lot of, like, computer science people. And they all told me to, like, just try it out just because, like, I'm in the program. I have the flexibility, I was like, you know what? Why not? Let's just try it out. And I ended up really liking it just because, like, I think with medicine, what I think is that the the value of it is a it's a good job of service. You're able to help people, But what I realized with computer science is that like, the impact that you can have can scale Like, you can build products that impact billions. Instead of, like, helping one on one. Like, obviously, like, you know, it's very different, but I think just having that massive impact kind of swayed me And so that's why I did computer science in, in college. I did a couple internships. Right now, I'm in the the Google office.

sweet do you like it, and do you wanna continue, or do you think you'll come back?

Yeah. So it's, like, three questions. So I think the first part is, like, why Google? There's a couple reasons. Like, the first being that, like, a lot of tech companies let's just say I I I don't know how familiar you are with, like, other companies, but, like, I feel like a lot of companies are specialized in, like, one thing. Like, for example, if you know Stripe, focus a lot on, like, financial infrastructure or you know, what's what's a pop like, even Amazon. Right? Like, they are very hard set on doing, like, delivery and packaging. And I actually interned there. Like, the I was on the robotics team. But, like, a lot of them my opinion, they don't have much beyond that. But I think what's good about Google is that it's so big where, like, I'm not to be honest, I'm not on, like, a really great team right now. I'm on, like, YouTube comments, which, like, isn't where I wanna be. But what's really good about Google is that you can, like, switch. Like, there's a lot of cool teams here. Like, I don't know if you've seen, like, the research that Google's been putting out, but there's, like, like, MedGemma, which is, a medical language model that they're developing. I know somebody there, so I'm trying to contact them. And there's actually another play me well, there's two play mees right now at Google, which is kind of interesting. And then we we all have, like, pretty similar goals.

And the other guy, he actually finished you can search him up. His name is I'll put it in the chat, Abdullah Ahmed. I'm actually gonna chat with him next week. I I already, like, talked to him, like, two weeks ago. We met at, like, a event or something. But he actually graduated medical school and is currently an engineer at Google. He's working on, like, multimodal like, imaging and language for I think, for medical applications. I'm not sure what exactly he's working on, which is why I wanna chat with him, but that's what he told me. So I think that's really cool. Like, there's a lot of areas where you can apply your I guess, your interest in medical to or computer science and medical together. Whereas other companies, I just feel like gonna become or, like, if you join them, you're just gonna become, a software engineer, not really working on things that you care about. Like, I think medical school is because, like, you're becoming a doctor. You're learning skills. You're learning new things that other people can't really learn. And you're kinda differentiating yourself. I think with software engineering, especially with cloud code, you're not really learning anything. You're not learning new skills. And I just feel like it's not really somewhere where I can grow as a person. Like, I think monetarily, could grow. But, like, I think as a person, not really. So it's not that fulfilling to me. But I am kind of getting more interested in, like, tech startups and also, like, as I said earlier, just, like, areas where I can apply, like, computer science with medicine. And I think Google is a place like that, if I'm able to get into, a more researchy role or, a AI ML role, I feel like that would be better suited for me is what I'm currently thinking. Yeah.

Yeah. I think there's, like, a bunch of different strategies. Like, I think issue with companies like Google or, like, big companies is that, like, you're just gonna be another applicant. Like, another software engineering applicant and you're gonna have to go through the process like any anyone else. I guess, like, the question here is, like, what exactly you wanna do with a CS degree. Right? Like, I think I actually know somebody from do you know Open Evidence?

But I think more than that, like, because I have limited time, I just want, like, a really, like, growth heavy reporting experience that I can, like, walk away from with a lot of, like, technical background.

Yeah. I think that, like, I give a bad representation of, like, software engineering. Like, I probably give a bad rep. Like, when you join, like, someone like Google, maybe, like, I'm I'm not I'm gonna get completely transparent. I feel like growing technically will be pretty hard. Just because of, like, the work you're doing is scoped by, like, a manager and, like, I just feel like engineers at, like, Google are, like, big tech. Not known to, like, move fast. But this is also why I chose medicine was, like, the impact Like, I'm really somebody who likes helping people and, like, having impact on people's lives at scale.
